How to remove 80 preinstalled applications on your Vstar phone.
Note this has only been tested on VOS 3, Android 10, on a Vstar Active 3. It will probably work on other Vstar phones, but do so at your own risk and do not uninstall anything further on this list. I bricked my phone countless times, so you don’t have to. Backup your phone first as you will lose everything. (Note that the ADB backup function and built in Google backup did not work on the Active 3, so consider a third party backup program for apps installed. This version of Play doesn’t remember recently installed apps.)
Please note you will brick your phone if you remove (uninstall) core functions like MediaTek and Vdefense (Device Protection). The phone will be functional only after you install an alternative keyboard, mail, calendar and launcher. (My personal setup is Niagra Launcher, Brave Browser, Signal(sms), Proton Mail/Calendar, Openboard, Stingle Photos and various simple apps Files, Dialer, Contacts, Gallery Pro.) You need to change default apps in settings after install. If your phone is stuck saying starting-up, you forgot to install a launcher or set it default first before running these scripts. Even without a launcher or keyboard it is possible to navigate to Play store to install from dropdown menu to get to Play, but if you can’t find how to get to applications you may have to factory reset. You need to get your alternative applications set to default before uninstalling VStar and Google bloatware.
Note: While disabling most of the Andriod, Google, Vstar bloatware, it does not mean your Android is 100% secure or private, and if you are a journalist or care about privacy, an iPhone may be a better and less time consuming option. It is my opinion that Google allows Vsmart to take liberties with your privacy. (You can get additional security with Netguard pro option w Socks5 . I also suggest removing data access and restricting battery use on a per app basis.)
And on a personal note, I am a huge fan of Google products like Drive, Photos and Maps, but there was still about 20+ programs I didn’t need. There are some Google apps you will probably want to keep that I didn’t, like Contacts, Files, Gboard, Youtube, and so on. Feel free to exclude cutting and pasting many of the Google apps into the ADB shell (you may especially want to exclude the last code Gboard- as you’ll have no text input without preinstalling Openboard).
Hopefully this is a brand new phone and you have nothing to lose. Here are the steps and good luck!
Step 1– Deactivate all Device Admin Apps including “Find My Phone”. (I remove this admin access on every restart, as you cannot remove Vdefense or the phone won’t start.)
Step 2– Go to Modify System Settings, select all Apps and disallow modify system settings for all applications. These settings will hold.
Step 3– Download ADB Android developer tools (Google It)
Step 4– Put phone in developer mode, enable USB debugging, turn off automatic system updates in developer mode.
Step 5– With phone connected to USB use the following codes to remove bloatware and spyware:
(You can cut and paste all these commands at once or you may want to keep Google products like messaging/Youtube/etc. Do not remove your stock ups like launcher without replacing them first. Run these commands at your own risk)
